About Lakena !

Hello, my name is Lakena.
I live in a small village in Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia, and I am currently in Grade 11.

I live with my older sister, Rata, who is 23 years old and blind, and my younger brother. My sister depends on me every day, every moment. I help her walk, eat, and do many small things in daily life. I love being her supporter, and she is not only my sister but also one of my best friends.

Growing up while watching my sister, I began to dream of becoming a doctor.

 

One day, I heard a doctor in Cambodia say that it is very rare and difficult for my sister to regain their sight. When I heard that, my heart sank, and I felt very sad. But instead of giving up, it made me want to try harder.

I want to become a doctor who can care for people like my sister and help them see how beautiful the world is. Even if it is difficult, I want to give hope to others, just like I hope for my sister every day.
